Prevention Is Better Than Cure!

My personal drive comes from having had the privilege of serving in the military for over two decades. From the intensity of basic training to actively seeking out the most demanding physical and mental challenges, self-discipline and motivation was and still is the key to my own successes, and, on rare occasions, the goodwill of others. Pushing my limits became second nature, and I embraced every test with determination.

Upon leaving the military, I needed to find new challenges that could replace such an active and structured lifestyle. That’s when I discovered the world of triathlons—specifically, Ironman events. This has become my new purpose. Setting goals and pushing myself to achieve them keeps me focused, ensuring I cross every finish line within the required time.

But why this profession? The answer is simple: I want to help others experience the same sense of accomplishment—no matter the goal. Whether it’s climbing a flight of stairs instead of taking the lift to the front door of your apartment, running or walking to the summit of Snowdon, or taking control of mental health through physical activity and making new friends every achievement counts.

The saying “prevention is better than cure” holds true maintaining a strong, healthy body reduces the need for medical intervention. Beyond personal fitness, I am passionate about building communities where people feel safe and supported in their fitness journeys. Whether it’s a group run at dawn or a night-time training session, a strong, connected community can make all the difference.

Train To Become & What We Offer?

TrainToBecome..

So why this name? Well, it can be seen as a starting point or a platform from where to formulate a goal, a desire, or a target, for example, you want to lose weight, you would like to become fitter for an event or even to complete basic Armed Forces Training, become toned ready for holidays. Whatever the reason is, it must start somewhere and that is where the name comes from, Train To Become…fitter, stronger, slimmer, A career in His Majesty’s Forces (Navy, Army, Airforce), the list of wanting to become is practically endless, all that is required is to apply one’s self belief.

What Train To Become Offers?

Apart from loyal commitment the main focus is to get people fitter, happier and to alleviate any mental health areas. The techniques used to get you fitter will be taken from running, circuit training and cycling and a 1-2-1.

Just to add a small note to the words circuit training and why not the buzz word “boot camp”, simply put, the British military has been using circuit training for many a decade, it is a tried and tested tool that works in the ability to aid in all areas. Bootcamp is an American term that mirrors the circuit training aspect, ie, high intensity short training periods.

Whilst all activities will be challenging, I will take care to tailor fitness around ability and fitness levels.
